The Harvey Milk Foundation |
Announcement of 2011 National Fundraising Campaign
In our on-going effort to support the Harvey Milk Foundation, Council Members will be selling copies of this fantastic book, The Harvey Milk Story, Written by Kari Krakow, for $15.00.
About The Book
"On a rainy day in January, on the steps of San Francisco's City Hall, Harvey Milk was sworn into office, the first openly gay elected city official in the United States of America. Harvey Milk had made history."
In this picture-book biography of an important gay-rights figure, Krakow and Gardner depict the life of this important civil rights leader in the only children's book to tell his story.
About The Author
Kari Krakow grew up in East Aurora, New York and now lives in Ithaca, New York with her family. For twenty years she has been teaching elementary school and using biographies to help children learn that individuality can be a source of strength. She hopes this book will inspire children to be themselves and make a difference.

The Harvey Milk Foundation is an organization that was founded by Stuart Milk, Harvey Milk’s nephew. The Harvey Milk Foundation goals are to “Empower local, regional, national and global organizations so that they may fully realize the power of Harvey Milk’s story.
The Foundation, through Harvey’s dream for a just tomorrow, envisions governments that celebrate the rich and universally empowering diversity of humanity, where all individuals – gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered, racial and ethnic minorities, the elderly, the young, the disabled – all who had been excluded can fully participate in all societal rights without exception. ”
