November
19, 2008 was a most historic and special day for the Imperial
Sovereign Court of the Wild Rose in Edmonton, Alberta and the
GLBT community as we had the honour of being introduced to the
members of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Alberta
. . . the first time a Court has been formerly introduced to
a Provincial Legislative Assembly in Canadian history. Adding
further significance to this historic day, after receiving special
permission from the Speaker of the House, Empress 33 Marni Gras,
became the only other person besides Queen Elizabeth II to have
the honour and privilege of wearing a crown inside the chamber
of the Legislative Assembly which during its 100 years adheres
to strict protocols and decorum established by the British Commonwealth.
Moments later, during Question Period, the Honourable Rachel
Notley used our presence in the chamber to ask why the Provincial
Government does not have any law in place protecting the GLBT
community from discrimination.
