There are simple beliefs that I learned growing up and it has always goes back to the Golden Rule. I started fund raising at the age of 10 collecting money for the Muscular Dystrophy Telethon and I haven't stopped. I was born in Flint, Michigan in 1965 to blue collar family. My past is full of serving my community from being in the National Guard, a police officer in Michigan, and working as an EMT. When AIDS came along and started affecting my friends in the 1980's, I saw a huge need since back then the medications were non-existent as was any type of government assistance. When my best friend passed in 1994 I swore that I wouldn't stop until we have a cure. During most of the 1980's I also noticed that the people stepping up to help many gay men in need was the Lesbian community, so automatically in a "pay-it-forward" process, I immediately created special bond in my heart when it comes to Lesbian issues. When I moved to Houston in 2003, I met my wonderful partner, Scott, who introduced me to ERSICSS. From there it is history. In my six years in ERSICSS and in serving Houston, I have produced over 60 events for the LGBT community. I am very broad in working within my community and accepting of everyone. I can walk into any bar or club from Leather to Lesbian and everything in between and be completely comfortable. I also transition well into the straight community; in 2009 I became the Executive Producer of Illuminations Project, a dance showcase performed at The Hobby Center for the Performing Arts that is design to help bring awareness to HIV/AIDS. When I took over this project, I was accepting it from a renowned Broadway dancer and choreographer, and not knowing any famous dancers from NYC, I set out to pull in the local talent from Houston. So I called and wrote every dance company and was surprised to have the TOP dance companies in Houston come together for the showcase. Proof that all people can do is say no, but unless you ask, you will never hear the yes. One of my favorite annual shows that I produce is called "For the Girls" a USO style show to raise money for different Lesbian causes. It is my way of saying thank you and to bring light to the Lesbian charities in Houston. When I became Emperor in 2010, I produced the Traveling Monarch's show, which had the Monarch's from all seven Texas courts and the Court of Oklahoma switching both Emperor and Empress's with two other courts. Not a small challenge to pull off, but it managed to raise over $5000 for those courts and knowing that I could coordinate that many individuals to accept this one night of madness was a great feat. When my Empress and I stepped down, we ended giving out the second highest amount in our courts history back to our community. We heard so often that we were in a recession, but instead we had wonderful support and hard work from all the members of ERSICSS. Our reign theme was simple, S.T.A.R.S.- Showing Thoughtful Actions Results in Success. Once again, something I believe deeply in. In May of 2010, I came up with the idea of archiving all of the programs within the ICS. I presented the idea to Nicole the Great and she has since named me the Imperial Archivist for the ICS. This is a great honor and over the years I have had my share of accolades, but being elected in as Speaker of the House for Her Majesty's Parliament is amazing. With the International Court System going through their Renaissance Period, Parliament will serve as a driving force to get the will of the people to the ears of the Monarchy. With two tasks at hand, my plate will be full for the next few years. But I accept these challenges with grace and determination. I am also looking forward to traveling to more realms and empires and learning what is special about each court. So if you see me out and about, please don't hesitate to talk me up and share, I always love to learn more.
From the Heart, through the Court and for the Community!
