A lifelong resident of Houston, Texas, Crystal has been part of the Imperial Court family since 1992 when she joined the Royal, Sovereign and Imperial Court of the Single Star of Houston.  She was crowned Empress XI three years later in 1995 and enjoyed a very successful reign with her Emperor, Jerry Morin.  She quickly developed her own style as an Empress and became known for her ability to have a good time with everyone while also knowing when to be serious and regal.  She remained involved with the Houston court after her step-down and served as Prime Minister of Protocol and as a member of the board of directors for four years.  In 1999, she was named as an Heir Apparent to Jose’ I, the Widow Norton and served on the Imperial Court Council for three years.

After a brief period of turmoil and a two year hiatus from the court, Crystal rejoined the newly incorporated Empire of the Royal, Sovereign and Imperial Court of the Single Star of Houston.  Her primary role since that time has been Prime Minister of Protocol.  She was granted the title of Czarina for Life in 2008 and the following year, with a unanimous vote of the board of directors and the general membership, Crystal was granted her full title of Empress XI.  She is still very active with the court performing at benefits and fundraisers throughout Houston and Texas and serves as emcee for most of the Texas coronations.

Crystal has served on the board of directors of several Houston organizations, including Legacy Community Health Services (then the Montrose Clinic), the first full service outpatient medical facility serving the HIV/AIDS community in Houston.  She was elected as Male Grand Marshal for the 2002 Houston GLBT Pride Parade and holds the distinction of being the only “drag queen” to serve as a Grand Marshal.  Crystal has received numerous awards and commendations from courts and monarchs throughout Texas and was recently honored by Nicole the Great, Queen Mother of the Americas, with the International Court Order of the Double Eagle.

Crystal and her sister operate a chemical dependency treatment facility in Houston.  She and her partner, Jerel, enjoy spending time with each other and with their families, including Jerel’s daughter and three grand children.
