Emperor John Ribson

In 1985 John separated from his wife to pursue his life as a gay male after being closeted for a number of years due to his fear of rejection. John has one son from his marriage which he raised solely since he was 13 years of age after the passing of his wife who was struck and killed by a drunk driver. John was born and raised in the City of Hamilton. In 1991 John opened a gay bar in the city of St. Catharine's, which lacked a place for the gay community to call their own. In early 1992 The Barony of Hamilton and St. Catharine's was created, John worked closely with them establishing fundraisers at his club for their causes. In 1993 the two cities separated to form their own Baronies and John was elected the Chair of St. Catharine's. In 1994 John moved back to Hamilton. Since his return he has been Emperor of Hamilton 4 times and served as their Chair for a number of years. His first reign as Emperor was in 1996/1997 as Emperor 2 with his Empress Tracy Bovine Reeves. John became Emperor for the second time in 2000/2001 reigning as Emperor 6 with his Empress Tatyana Romanov. John's third reign as Emperor occurred in 2004/2005 when he was crowned Emperor 9 with his Empress Mercedes and this past year 2010/2011 he was crowned as Emperor 16 with his Empress Miss Drew. In addition, John also served as an Heir Apparent to Jose the Widow Norton for several years as well as serving as Heir Apparent to Queen Mother of the America's Nicole the Great. John runs a charity bingo at a local Bingo hall which raises over $20,000 per year for local charities. In addition he has created the title of Entertainer of the Year in Hamilton which has been a large fundraiser for Coronation each year. John currently resides in the city of Toronto and Chair of the TICOT for 2011/2012 term while still maintaining his position on the board with The Imperial Court of Hamilton-Wentworth. Outside of the court system, John has taken an active role in his business as a franchisee being in the Wendy's system for almost 20 years. In late 2006 John was elected by all the Ontario Wendy's franchisees onto the franchise advisory council for Canada. Since then he has served one year as President and continues to be an active member of the board for his second three year term. As recognition of Johns hard work in his communities John was recognized in 2001 John by being presented with a Certificate of Appreciation award of outstanding contribution to his community by the mayor of the city of Hamilton for his charity work. |
