I
was born in Chico, California and raised in Paradise.
I had one gay brother, who died of cancer at the age
of 55. I have 2 sons, 7 grand children and 3 great
grand children. Eileen and I have been living together
for 16 years. We had our first Holy Union Ceremony
15 years ago and were legally married on October 31,
2008. I've lived in California, Alabama and Alaska.
I've worked in retail, as a hairdresser and for a
Police Department. In Alaska I worked for the Attorney
for Doyon Limited Native Corporation, as a Patient
Account's Manager for a native hospital, as a Housing
Manager for the Department of the Army and as the
Assistant to the City Manager. I also served on the
local Art's Committee, Election Board and City Planning
Commission. Upon returning to California, I went to
work for the Butte County Department of Social Services,
as a Hearings Officer. I retired in 1996 from the
Butte County District Attorney's Office. I decided
to go back to college and in 2001, graduated with
honors with a degree in something, "fun."
In
1990 I became involved in PFLAG and the LGBT community.
I belonged to Women's Cultural Productions as a Board
member and later as President of the Board. WCP sponsored
dances and concerts in Chico, showcasing some now
famous Women performers. In 1992, Stonewall Alliance,
WCP and the ISCCD put on the first LGBT pride event
called, "Freedom Fest" at Chico State College.
WCP started the Kids Klub, Tasty Tongues Dining Group
and potlucks, which are still in existence today.
Eileen and I have been involved with The Stonewall
Alliance Center, our local LGBT center, since it was
first planned and opened its doors. We've helped with
events, chaperoned teen dances, attended COCO meetings,
attended various fund raisers and for 3 consecutive
years participated in building and staffing the Halloween
"Haunted House" fund raiser.
We
became involved with the ICS and the ISCCD almost
20 years ago when it first became an independent court.
I held my first of six titles, "Lady in Waiting"
in Reign 1. We were active in the Court until 1996
when I became very ill. Since our return a few years
ago, we've traveled extensively and are starting our
third term on the Board of Directors. I've been Board
Vice President, Arch Duchess, Imperial Crown Princess
and the 17th elected Empress. As the newest members
of the College of the Monarchs, we are very proud
of our reign. Our Court worked very hard and raised
over $40,000, doubled the paid membership and added
3 more counties to the ISCCD territory. We were involved
in the First Annual Chico Canine Carnival. This was
a huge event that was put on to involve everyone in
the surrounding counties. It was a joint venture between
the ISCCD, American Kennel Club, Butte County Kennel
Club and the Butte County Humane Society to show that
everyone can work together towards a common goal.
We
were active in our local Prop 8 rallies and are founding
members of, "Butte County Families for Equality."
We also participated in and spoke at the Matthew Shepard
observances. I'm also very proud of the four years
I was a Volunteer Advocate for Rape Crisis Intervention.
I
am very honored and humbled at being named Heir Apparent
and Imperial Daughter to Empress Nicole the Great.
I look forward to working with the Council in the
coming year and will strive to contribute whatever
skills I have to further the goals and vision of the
organization.
