Verna Turbulence was born as an outreach of my fundraising efforts in Boston, MA. I was a local business owner in The South End, a known gay enclave here in Boston, and in order to reach out to our brothers and sisters in the community we were asked to throw a Halloween Fundraiser in October 1992 which, of course, included Costumes!!!! Being an active fashion designer, I was naturally called upon to help transform us into Drag Diva's…..the rest is history!

Within a few years my girlfriends and I were throwing fundraisers for our favorite beneficiaries and racking up thousand of dollars and directing much needed awareness and focus on organizations and programs which we held dear to us. All the while that we were doing this, our ranks of the original set of girlfriends began to dwindle. We were of an age that saw much of this! Seeing our own "sick and dying" is what galvanized me to this cause, and made me seek out organizations that had similar ideals and hopes for the future. From that point on I have tried to work tirelessly on behalf of those organizations, always with the memory of those who came before us and truly made it possible for us to achieve what we have.

For many years I had attended Night of a Thousand Gowns in New York, the true Jewel in the Crown of the ICS, and knew of their charitable works and important community based activism. It inspired me to get involved with my own organization here, the Imperial Court of Massachusetts, which has been in existence over 15 years! I was lucky to be elected Empress IV in 2004/2005, serve on the Board of Directors twice and to have been "Ball Coordinator" for five years. My proudest achievement is to have joined forces between ICMA and those very organizations I began my career as Verna with!!! Continuing DRAG BRUNCH for The Boston Living Center each May has also been one of my most cherished activities. With the help of ICMA members and the community we have been able to change so many lives.

In my community I have been honored beyond my wildest dreams with more awards and honors than I can count, or deserve, with even the mayor proclaiming "Verna Turbulence Day" here in Boston. It has been a blessing that I will continue to try to earn.

I have been honored by our Queen Mother, Nicole the Great, with the International Court Order of the Double Eagle and am honored to be chosen once again to sit on the council. I am hoping that she will pleased with her decision and during my tenure I am able to aid her in this great adventure.
