She grew up on Cape Breton Island in northern Nova Scotia and in 1998, she worked on and obtained the first proclamation of Pride in Sydney, Nova Scotia - The first pride festival was birthed in Sydney. In the following years she became the president of Cape Breton Gay and Lesbian Association organizing social and advocacy events in Sydney.
In 2001 she moved to Halifax, Nova Scotia, where she dove right into things and became a board member of the Imperial Court of Halifax helping to organize Coronation 1. She became hooked. She was elected Empress the first time in 2004, then in 2008, and Regent in 2009 becoming the first triple crowned Empress in Halifax. In her first year of reigning, her Emperor, Jozef and her, gave the most money the court of Halifax has ever given to charity. "The amount of good that the Court System brings to people who really need it makes sense to me."
She works in long Term Care as the Director of Recreational Services. "In Caring for people in the final years of their life is so fulfilling."
She sits on the boards of directors of The Aids Coalition of Nova Scotia, Safe Harbour MCC Church and Halifax Pride. She has been Chairing Halifax Pride Festival for the past 3 years helping to make Halifax Pride the 4th largest pride festival in Canada. "I believe that Pride and the fight for gay rights is a worthwhile cause."
She is noted for saying, "I believe you should live to the fullest everyday making a difference in one person's life through our efforts and kindness. "
