Empress XXXV Jaylene has been a strong contributing member of Vancouver's LGBT community for several years. As a professional make-up artist she has created a great balance of work and expression She is a prominent example of the diversity that exists in our communities. She is of First Nation Metis descent and has represented The Greater Vancouver Native Cultural Society as their 27th elected Elder Princess- a two-spirited non-profit organization providing a vehicle for the research and study of aboriginals, their traditions and their cultures. During this reign she was also featured by Health Canada in a nation wide billboard campaign, studying the smoking habits in the LGBT communities. It was a very special initiative that created services for people wishing to stop smoking.
Jaylene has also served as Imperial Crown Princess 32 and was the recipient of the "Changes" award. An award created in which is given to someone who has gone against the grain, entertained ,challenged and changed the way drag is done in Vancouver.
A strong focus of Jaylene's is to bridge different communities and help draw awareness to the simularities rather than the differences . Her reign as the 35th elected Empress gave her the opportunity to do just so. Jaylene's representation included cultural events reaching out to Vancouver's Asian,Latin, and Native communities. Also included were issues involving drug and alcohol addiction services, HIV and Hepititis services for youth,Battered Women Support Services,LGBT Seniors and championing the transgendered. During her reign, she was awarded the Order of Sakatchewan from the Imperial Court of Regina. This was very special as this was her place of birth.
By being consistent with her efforts as a goodwill ambassador and keeping an open mind to new opportunities,Jaylene has shown that as long as one genuinely does their best, positive things do follow. Her devotion to her city, country and to the International Court System shall always remain full hearted.
Jaylene considers her appointment as an Heir Apparent to HIM Empress Nicole the Great-Queen Mother of the Americas, truly an honour and looks forward to this, the new" Renaissance period".
