Heir Apparent to Empress Nicole the Great
ICC Executive Secretary

Empress Christy Pe'Vey San Antonio, TX
  H - 210.286.8531
PO BOX 780625
San Antonio, TX, 78278-0625 Email:pevey@satx.rr.com

Christy Pe'Vey began her role in the equality movement in 1986 when she and a handful of students petitioned the Board of Regents for a charter to establish a Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender support group at her university. Noting the denial of the charter, they began a grass roots campaign effort to reverse the decision which they were able to successfully do so within a year of their efforts. The result was not only a student and faculty support vehicle for diversity, it paved the way for the university to embrace and celebrate the needs of diverse populations and ultimately the offering of same sex partner benefits to all of their staff and faculty.

In 1990, Christy began volunteer work with Southwest Voter Research Project in various campaigns to get the vote out and mobilize the Latino movement in south and south central Texas. In 1996, Christy joined the Alamo Empire, Inc of San Antonio of which she has been empress three times and has served in various capacities on the Board of Directors. Over the last decade she has participated in various boards and task forces for the Gay and Lesbian Dart League, the Pride Coalition, Jennifer’s Camp, the Diversity Center, and the San Antonio Metropolitan Community Health District.

Apart from working closely with various court members to help fund raise for various San Antonio non-profit agencies, in 1996, Empress Christy involved the Alamo Empire in a coalition with the Esperanza Peace Justice Center, a diversity center that advocates for all people wounded by inequality and dominance, after their city funding had been cut because of their sponsorship of the gay and lesbian film festival. After years of advocacy and community awareness, the Center won its litigation in 2001 and to this day continues to advocate decency and tolerance for all human beings through the assistance of city funding.

In order to forge stronger bridges and advocate community partnerships, Empress Christy continued to align the Alamo Empire and other community agencies. In 2003 she co-authored a quarter of a million dollar grant from the Center for Disease Control with the Executive Director of Hope Action Care and the San Antonio Diversity Center. As a result, these funds were funneled for a myriad of services for those affected with HIV/AIDS as well as assisted in the educational advancement for gay, lesbian, bisexual and trans-gendered students in the form of scholarships to accredited four year universities. Empress Christy is currently at the grass roots level for a humanity for animals campaign, a partnership between those affected with HIV/AIDS and animal rights services, and will spearhead the “Get Out the Vote in 2008” Campaign for GLBT community in San Antonio.

Empress Christy received her B.A. and M.Ed. from Trinity University and is currently in a Ph.D. at the University of Texas in Austin. She was voted on to the International Court Council in April of 2006.
